KUANTAN, Jan 12 (Bernama) -- MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek today advised the Chinese, particularly those in Johor''s Tenang state constituency where a by-election is due on Jan 30, to consider in-depth the implications of the Islamic state championed by PAS.
He said PAS would definitely want to make it a reality if it were to come to power.
"PAS will not back down from its struggle to set up an Islamic state. This is a direct warning to the DAP and all non-Muslims. If you consider all the political parties in the country, it is only PAS which is talking of religion in terms of a political agenda.
"If PAS comes to power and administers, it has to fulfil what it is championing and will adhere to its constitution to set up an Islamic state," he told reporters after handing out contributions to old folks in conjunction with the Chinese New Year next month.
He was asked to comment on PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang''s statement on the setting up of an Islamic state and enforcement of Islamic laws at a party function in the Chemplak Barat Felda Scheme in Labis on Monday.
